Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

This policy explains what Tree Host collects when you use Tree Host and what we do with it.

What we collect

  • Account details: your username, email address, and optionally your Minecraft name. Sign-in is handled by a trusted sign-in provider: we never see or store your password.
  • Discord, if you link it: your Discord member ID and display name, so our Discord bot can give you the right roles. We can't read your messages or your servers, and we don't keep Discord's access token. Unlinking deletes both.
  • Payment details: handled by our certified payment processor. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of your plans and whether they are paid.
  • Your servers: the worlds, files, plugins and settings you put on Tree Host, and the server console logs (which include the names of players who join).
  • Technical data: IP addresses in our logs and for rate limiting, and an activity log of actions on your servers (such as starts, stops and backups).
  • What you send us: support chat messages; creator program applications (name, channel and email); and, if you contribute, the name, message and Minecraft name you choose (shown on the contribute page only if you tick "Show my name").
  • Page views: when you open a page on Tree Host, we count the visit. The count stores the page path (e.g. /pricing) and, on the visit itself, the referring site (hostname only). Nothing more. We don't use cookies or third-party analytics, and no IP address, personal data or account identifier is ever attached to the count. Page-view counts are never linked to your account. They are deleted after 180 days.
  • Creator links: links shared by creators of our referral program can carry a short creator code in the address (e.g. ?ref=SPARK), stored for the visit the same cookie-free way as the page-view count. If you create an account through such a link, the code is stored on the account record so the creator is credited. It never contains personal data, and it works exactly like the referrer site above: no cookies, no IP address, no tracking.

How we use it

  • to run your servers and your account, and to take payments;
  • to send you service emails (password resets, failed payments, important changes);
  • to keep the Service secure and stop abuse;
  • to help you when you contact support (our staff can see your servers to help with problems).

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the providers we need to run the Service: our sign-in and data storage provider, our payment processor, our email provider (service emails), and the company that hosts our servers. Email support@treehost.online for the current list of providers, or for our data processing agreement (DPA) if you run a business or community that needs one. They may only use it to provide their service to us. We may also share data when the law requires it.

Minecraft player heads (on the supporters wall, the creator wall and in the dashboard) are loaded from mc-heads.net by your browser. So that a changed skin shows up right away, Tree Host first looks up the Minecraft name shown at Mojang (the makers of Minecraft) to find the current skin; only the name is sent. Like any website you load an image from, mc-heads.net sees your IP address.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in (to each account you add to the account switcher) and one that recognises your browser, which links accounts used together so our rules apply to all of them. Our sign-in provider keeps your sign-in in your browser's storage. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. The only other browser storage we use is an optional, small marker that remembers how you reached us (e.g. from a creator's link) so we can tell which sites and creators send visitors our way. It's kept in your browser's local storage. Not a cookie. And never leaves your browser. You can clear it any time by clearing your browser's site data.

How long we keep it

Your account data is kept while you have an account. Servers of ended plans are deleted 14 days after the plan ends. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. If our team takes action because of a broken rule (a warning, suspension, ban or deletion), we keep a record of it, with the reason and evidence, for up to 3 years after the action ends (an action still in force is kept while it applies), so we can handle appeals, disputes and repeat abuse. When you buy a plan we keep a record of what you agreed to at checkout (the time, your IP address and browser, the price and the renewal terms) for 3 years after the plan ends, as auto-renewal laws require.

Your rights

You can see and change your account details in the dashboard. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California) you may have more rights, such as objecting to processing or complaining to a data protection authority.

Children

Tree Host is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. When you sign up we ask for the year you were born and refuse accounts for anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it. You must be 18, or have a parent or guardian who pays, to buy a plan. If you are under the age where you can agree to this policy yourself where you live, a parent or guardian must agree for you.
