Getting started
Welcome to Tree Host! This guide takes you from a new account to playing on your own Minecraft server in a few minutes.
1. Create your account#
- Go to demo.treehost.online and click Get started.
- Pick a username, enter your email and a password (8+ characters).
- Tick that you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click Create account.
Tip: use an email you check. Receipts, password resets and payment problems are sent there.
2. Pick a plan#
Monthly plans run as many servers as you like, each with the plan's memory (RAM), CPU and disk. Or pay once for Lifetime (4 servers, 2 proxies and priority support). Plans differ in:
| More memory helps with... | |
|---|---|
| More players at the same time | about 1-5 players run fine on 2 GB, 5-20 on 4 GB |
| Bigger modpacks and heavy plugins | Modpacks usually want 4 GB or more |
| Big worlds and long view distances | lower the view distance if the server feels slow |
- Choose a plan and click Choose.
- You're sent to our secure payment page. Enter your card and confirm.
- You land back in your dashboard, ready to create the server.
Note: you can buy more plans later for more servers. Every plan is separate and can be canceled on its own.
3. Create your server#
- Pick the server software:
Type Pick it for Paper The best choice for most servers: fast, and runs Bukkit/Spigot/Paper plugins. Purpur Paper plus lots of extra gameplay options. Fabric Fabric mods and modpacks. Forge Forge mods, from Minecraft 1.12.2. The first start takes a few minutes while it installs. NeoForge NeoForge mods, from Minecraft 1.20.2. The first start takes a few minutes while it installs. Vanilla The official server from Mojang, no plugins or mods. Folia Very large player counts (many plugins don't support it yet). Spigot / CraftBukkit Only if a plugin needs them. The first start takes 5-15 minutes. Velocity / Waterfall / BungeeCord Proxies that connect several servers.

- Pick the Minecraft version (the newest is selected).
- Give the server a name, choose which plan it uses, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA.
- Click Create server. Tree Host downloads everything and starts it. The first start takes a minute or two.
4. Join your server#
At the top of your server's page is the Join address, an address and a port number. Click it to copy.

- Open Minecraft (Java Edition) → Multiplayer → Add Server.
- Paste the address into Server Address and click Done.
- Join!
Tip: the address belongs to your server for as long as you keep the plan. Share it with your friends.
Make yourself an operator#
- Click Account (bottom left) and enter your Minecraft name.
- On your server's Console tab, click OP me. You now have operator (admin) rights in-game.
